Sometimes we get into a rut whether it's in the area of our job, relationships or with ourselves! What should we do? Give in? Dwell? Complain? Or take action? Yep I try to go for the latter! TAKE ACTION!!
I sat with a friend recently at her home. We spoke while she was cleaning the kitchen plates resulting from the mexican tacos and cervaza we indulged ourselves in. As she was clearing the surface of her marble countertop she stated that she was bored! All in the same breath she took a quick call from her hubby, fed her 5 year old fur baby and tended to her live floral arrangement in the dining area.
I watched as she multi-tasked and wondered how such a busy person could say they are bored?
Routine and Repetition are cycles that allow the brain to master tasks which are beneficial in many instances but can also lead to monotony!
Saving ourselves from this pitfall takes just alittle creativity:
Let's start our day with a goal in mind: " Today I'm going to get that tan I have wanted all summer.... Today I'm going to take that powerwalk, run or go to the gym and last an extra 15 minutes!... Today I'm going to eat less fried foods and more greens... Or...Today I'm going to take a break by relaxing, reading and pampering myself, Today I am going to indulge in dessert as a treat!, Today I'm going to spend some time reaching out to family and friends!
Now how can anyone be bored with all of these items on their agenda? This list can become endless and can change from day to day! And guess what?, implementing this is actually a coping mechanism. You cope with the boredom of the everyday by attacking it with your own intention!
This small adjustment can make a big difference on your outlook!
So go ahead and try it Today, Tomorrow or this Week! And say to yourself, Umm, Today I am going to____________________________!
Cheers! Aniyah, The MommySavior!
Everyday is another opportunity to be a better version of ourselves!
